A microcosm of wider stupidity.

• People on Twitter and elsewhere call out BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg for bias.  Kuenssberg is in truth less biased than she is just taking the opportunity to kick an easy target, as is the wont of everyone everywhere, but especially journalists.  Complaining about the BBC is also an utter waste of time and plays into the hands of those opposed to the BBC for so much as attempting to be as objective as possible, as we'll probably see later this week.


• One of said people starts a petition calling for Kuenssberg to be sacked.  This is kicking usual social media whining up to the level of outright silliness.  Attempting to get BBC journalists sacked for alleged bias is definitely an avenue to pursue, with no possibility of any adverse side effects further down the line.


• BFFs with all sorts of hacks and media outlets Labour MP Jess Phillips determines that this campaign, waged obviously by the usual suspects, is unutterably sexist. Phillips you might recall said Jeremy Corbyn was guilty of "low-level non-violent misogyny" for not appointing a woman to one of the "great four offices of state".  Of course we're talking four great shadow offices of state, but still.  The "hard left", clearly those behind this campaign, are after all unrelentingly misogynistic.  The SWP, Galloway, Assange, etc.  Various easily wound up people (brocialists, natch) respond to Phillips with sexist remarks.  Silliness turns into complete stupidity.


• Person behind the petition, in agreement with 38 Degrees, your one stop shop for all utterly redundant and pointless engagements with politics, takes down the petition because of the sexism and misogyny of some of those supporting it.


• So much for the kinder, gentler politics, eh everyone right? Eh? Eh?


• Pattern repeats until every hour there is a new outbreak of sexism, racism, transphobia etc of which some people somewhere on the left are guilty and which Labour MPs/journalists/gerbils/amoebas demand must be condemned/repudiated/reclaimed or otherwise they will scream and scream and scream.  And they can scream.
